MULTAN, Jan 9
(APP): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is getting overwhelming
response from passengers on launching direct weekly flights from
Multan-Jeddah and Multan-Madina. PIA District Manager Baqir Naqvi told
APP on Thursday that flights were packed for January because passengers
from DG Khan, Jampur, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Alipur,
Vehari, Burewala, Arifwala, Sahiwal and other villages and towns of
South Punjab were availing the recently launched facility. The national
flag carrier had launched its two flights from Multan to Jeddah and
Multan to Madina on January five to facilitate passengers as either
they had to travel to Lahore or Karachi to get the direct flight for
these two destinations.
He suggested that PIA should add at
least two extra flights specially for Multan-Jeddah keeping in view
great rush of passengers. The district manager said if the PIA fly Airbus-310 having 223 seats configuration replacing existing PK-379 with 189 seats capacity, the step may enhance its business.
“Visas of people are expiring and they needed seats in the airline as they prefer to fly by PIA,” Naqvi added.
“The extra flights will definitely help boosting our business,” he said.
