Interesting Notes
He was the son of Hafiz Abdul Rashid who belonged to an Awan family that had migrated from Jhelum district.He was a follower of Khawaja Noor Muhammad Mahari and that he was deeply interested in philosophy. He established a madrassa or school in Multan for teaching pertaining to Chishtia School of mysticism. He was not a man of pen only but was equally good in swordsmanship and an excellent marksman with bow and arrow. During his life time, Sikh raids on Multan were quite frequent and Hafiz Jamal took part in several of these fights in defense of his city and people. He died in the year 1226/ 1811. It is said that Nawab Muzaffar Khan was his disciple.
