MULTAN: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will perform ground breaking ceremony of Rs 30 billion metro bus project here on August 14.
The 30 kilometre metro project, to be completed within a year, would be built on modern lines like Dubai Metro Bus project.
Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif announced this while presiding over a high level meeting here at Circuit House on Thursday.
He said that metro bus project was a gift for Multanites and added that employees, labourers, teachers, lawyers, doctors and women would avail themselves of travelling facility at cheaper rates.
He said that the PC-1 of the project would be completed in coming July and the work would be started on the project soon after the completion of feasibility report.
The Chief Minister said that latest landscaping would be made under the flyovers which would be constructed for metro projects and added that they would be renovated according to the city's traditional culture.
He directed PML-N parliamentarians hailing from Multan to monitor personally the metro bus route passing from their constituencies.
Shahbaz said that feeder buses would also be plied at various metro stations to facilitate nearby community and added that it would also go with the main project.
He said that the existing flyovers on the bus route would be extended so that their safety would not be affected.
The Punjab Chief Minister also announced to constitute a committee consisting of two MNAs and three MPAs to check various matters regarding the bus project.
Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif got briefing on the project and visited the proposed bus routes.
