Multan to Have Six TB Diagnostic Labs Soon



Friday, March 14, 2014 - Multan-The local administration will set up six laboratories in the city for diagnosing Tuberculosis (TB) in collaboration with an NGO to conduct free tests, informed DHO and District Coordinator TB Control programme Dr Wasim Ramzi.

Dr Waseem said over 0.4 million TB cases surfaced in the country during the last year, including over 6,000 patients in the Multan district, and added that exactly 5,077 patients were treated. The labs will be established at Kalma Chowk, Chungi No 1, Chung No 6, Aziz Hotel Chowk, Khuni Burj and Masoom Shah Road, he said.

He was briefing in a programme TB Dot Com held under the auspices of a non governmental organization in connection with World TB Day on Thursday. Dr Ramzi stated that the government had a plan to control 50 percent of the disease by 2015 under Millennium Programme and 100 per cent control by 2050
