Australia offers expertise in different sectors

Australian High Commissioner Peter Heyward has said that enormous business opportunities exist between the economies of Australia and Pakistan which need to be explored for boosting bilateral trade.
He observed this while addressing the members of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and leading businessmen of Multan. He said that Australia has the potential for investment in specialised sectors and there is an immense potential for bilateral trade between two countries, especially agriculture products from Pakistan such as mango and citrus posses the potential to penetrate the Australian market because of its quality and exceptionally good taste. The Australian high commissioner said that Australia could help Pakistan in capacity building of its professionals and also could provide expertise in improving agricultural productivity, post-harvest value addition, dairy products, livestock, food processing, mining and oil & gas exploration. He said that Pakistan and Australia needed to undertake serious efforts to open up new vistas and avenues for enhanced trade between the two countries. He said bilateral trade between the two countries had been growing steadily over the past few years, however, he pointed that trade volume still remained far below its true potential. MCCI President Khawaja Muhammad Usman said Pakistan would like to welcome more Australian corporate entities to consider investment opportunities in its oil and gas, mining, power generation in hydel, thermal and renewable energy fields and agro-based industry. In his welcome address, MCCI President said Pakistan attached importance to cordial ties with Australia, as both the countries shared common perceptions and enjoyed convergence of views on democratic values, war against terrorism, global peace and security and regional stability. He said people of Pakistan were grateful to the govt and people of Australia for acknowledging Pakistan’s human and economic sacrifices.
