End of backwardness in South Punjab

Multan—Member of Punjab Assembly and Incharge Prime Minister’s camp office Ahmed Mujtuba Gilani said that federal government was taking practical steps to end backwardness of South Punjab. Chairing a special meeting to review progress on the development package here at Circuit House, Gilani said that the provision of PM’s development package to this backward region was an evidence of government’s commitment towards development of South Punjab. Mujtuba Gilani said that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, was himself monitoring the development projects. He added that the Pakistan People’s Party -led government was committed to complete these projects within stipulated time in order to facilitate people at the earliest. He said that the development work would generate economic opportunities in the region. Addressing the meeting MPA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani said that South Punjab had been ignored for last 65 years which resulted into desperation among local people. He said that multi-billion projects would surely help raise living standards of the local people. He said there would be no compromise on standard and quality of work. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Multan Khurram Ali Agha, District Coordination Officer Multan Zahid Akhtar Zaman, SSP Operation Azhar Akraam, MPA Malik Aamir Dogar, PM’s media coordinator Khawaja Rizwan Aalam, Malik Akhtar Bhutta, Manzoor Qadri, Khawaja Noor Mustufa and others. Earlier,Prime Minister Gilani pledged a development package for Muzaffargarh in days ahead. He announced this while responding to the demands by local representatives of people including Abdul Qayyum Jatoi.
