Rome City and Multan City made Sister Cities

Multan and Rome both are oldest living cities on earth and have ancient history both signed a document are regarded as Twin cities or Sisiter cities due to their similar and rich archaeological and cultural heritage, and historical linkages.

Rome: “We must honour the past heritage not only to be preserved in museums but also as a thriving and
living entity with all its spiritual and traditional essence,” the Italian ambassador said. He stressed the need to work together to promote the archaeological and cultural heritage of the region and added that Italy is keenly interested in establishing an archaeology department at Bahauddin Zakaria University. Multan: Under this agreement, historical status of Multan will be highlighted and all its monuments will be given complete protection, he added. Tareen said that better planning was being made to achieve the objective. He said that government was committed to infrastructure development and well-being of the people. He added that development process was also in progress in Multan so that its people do not travel to other cities to avail different facilities (2009)
