Event Description : ICOMOS-India & IGNCA Cordially invite you to a talk by Prof. Fauzia Husain Qureshi, Former Principal, National College of Arts, Lahore On 'Conservation of the Living Monuments of Multan' as part of the ICOMOS-India Lecture Series.
The presentation will provide a brief background of Multan’s rich cultural and built heritage and its current conditions. The Government of Pakistan recognizing this treasure prepared a project for its conservation which was undertaken by the author which covered over 50 sites comprising shrines tombs, mosques, temples, city walls, gates and the fort. The issues and constraints faced for conservation of this heritage was the bases for the preparation of a strategy and a master plan for conservation of the built heritage of Multan. A presentation of some case studies which have been implemented over the past 5 years will be presented for discussion.
