MINAR to have new Gamma camera by May end
MULTAN - The Multan Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy
(MINAR) will have a new Gamma camera - a device use to image gamma
radiation emitting radioisotopes, a technique known as scintigraphy by
end of next month.
MINAR Director Dr Durr-e-Sabih told this agency on Tuesday that they had already two cameras which had gone old and added that they would get a new one by end of May.
He said that they would make the camera functional by the first week of June which would help them improving the services delivery to the patients.
The commission had purchased 10 Gamma cameras out of which they would get one, Dr Sabih added.
The MINAR Director hoped that the new facility would cut short the long waiting list for the oncology patients.
It is pertinent to mention here that the applications of scintigraphy include early drug development and nuclear medical imaging to view and analyse images of the human body or the distribution of medically injected, inhaled, or ingested radionuclide’s emitting gamma rays.
