MULTAN-Inter-schools annual debate competition on “Media is Blessing” was held at City School Multan on Tuesday, which was participated in by dozens of students from 6th to 8th class.
The modified parliamentary debate style received immense appreciation from the audiences. Dr Naveed, Associate Professor English Department Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) and noted Journalist Tahir Mehmood were judges of the debate contest.
Team of students belonging to Beacon School highlighted the role of media in creating awareness, education, protection of human rights, bridging gaps between masses and the government and others amicably. The team won the contest.
Students of Girls Public School, who opposed the proposition, highlighted the undue sensationalism, exaggeration, culture of breaking news and other issues. The GPS got second position.
Similarly, Multan Public School secured third position.
Chief Guest and Judge of the event Dr Naveed while addressing the ceremony appreciated the conduct of the activity amongst children of various schools. He stated that such events helped to create culture of tolerance and offer solution of problems by encouraging dialogues.
He also distributed prizes among the winning teams.
Principal City School Samana Imam, Yasir Shafiq and teachers were also present on the occasion.
