Agri scientists urged to produce high quality mango

MULTAN : Agri scientists have been urged to introduce high quality mango variety to market mango produce in US and European markets.  Addressing the agri scientists here at Mango Research Station Shujabad, Addl Secy Agriculture (Planning), Ahmad Ali Zafar said that there was no alternate of Pak mango type “Chaunsa” across the world. He directed the agri scientists to produce nurseries of high quality mangoes. He said that Rs 30 million dollars revenue was obtained by exporting mango to the US, European markets this year and it could be increased by producing high quality mangoes through better management of mango gardens.
Later, talking to the training participants organized under agriculture sector linkages programme, Ahmed Ali Zafar stressed the participants to create awareness among mango growers regarding better management of mango for boosting mango yield. He urged them to play their role for transfer of technology at lower level growers.
Addressing on the occasion, Khalid Mehmood said that Multan and Rahim Yar Khan districts contribute 63 per cent share from total mango gardens of Punjab. He said that training was being imparted to agricultural officers (extension) for step wise management of mango gardens.
